like i know it’s really important to specify that not all chronically ill people who experience chronic pain are addicts, and i know it’s incredibly important to say that actually the vast majority of us aren’t addicts,

but like … yeah there are some people who experience chronic pain that are addicted to their pain killers, and enjoy being high on them, there are, and you know what that’s not a fucking bad thing? They’re in chronic pain, they need it anyway. And feeling good is a rare fucking thing when you’re always in agonizing pain.

And there shouldn’t be such a push to hate on addiction, especially when it’s fucking necessary or inevitable when you’re in chronic pain … you literally need your pain medication to survive, I mean I could very easily see someone taking more than they need because 1) they like not being in horrible pain 2) they’re worried about experiencing that pain again and taking it sooner than needed alleviates the stress of wondering when you’re going to be in too much pain to get up and go to the bathroom by yourself again.

It’s fucking scary, it really is, when the pain is so horrible there is a fear there that if you don’t take it even when you don’t feel like you need it at the time that the pain will come back in full force and you’ll be in agony, and that would be considered addiction, because you’re taking it when you don’t need it.

And honestly, if those of you have never experienced chronic excruciating pain you have no right to look down at us for being dependent or addicted to our pain medications when they literally keep us from killing ourselves, or keep us from not being able to complete basic human tasks like eating and sleeping.

“It’s fucking scary, it really is, when the pain is so horrible therr is a fear there that if you don’t take it even when you don’t feel like yoy need it at the time that the pain will come back in full force and you’ll be in agony, and that would be considered addiction”
Taking pain meds when not in pain is kind of like drinking when you arent thirsty. If you get a chance to prevent future dehydration you take it–if you get a chance to prevent future pain that could be EXCRUCIATING, you take it.
